On November 17, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Galerie Ceysson Bénetière in Saint Etienne, the second edition of the Prix Horizon art competition, organized by the Piscines Desjoyaux group to support young artists, came to a close.
Participants were asked to create an original work on the theme of the swimming pool, a dream object par excellence and an inexhaustible source of inspiration and artistic expression.
A l’issue du concours, 3 lauréats et 7 coups de cœurs ont été sélectionnés par les prestigieux membres du jury :
Aurélie Voltz: Jury President and Director of the MAMC in Saint-Etienne;
Dimitri Tolstoï: Photographer,
Mickael Faure: Artist and Director of the MARSINPARIS agency,
Sophie Litras: Artistic Director,
Véronique Dupuy Collector,
Damien Deroubaix, French Engraver and Painter,
and Jean-Louis Desjoyaux: Founder of the prize and CEO of the Desjoyaux company.
PRIX DU JURY
The winner of the JURY PRIZE is “Service Méridional” by Adrien Ogel. This painting on paper, measuring 2 m 69 by 1 m 60, depicts a night view of three exhibition swimming pools, set up vertically on the edge of a main road. The memory of late-night arrivals in the south of France is evoked step by step, as the painting is constructed.
PRIX DE LA LOIRE
LE PRIX DE LA LOIRE is awarded to Milène Sanchez for her charcoal on paper work.
These 3 60 x 38 cm canvases are inspired by a scene from Jacques Tourneur’s film “La féline” (1942).
PRIX DU PUBLIC
The PUBLIC’S PRIZE was won by Servane de Tourtier, for her acrylic and aerosol painting on grey cardboard, 150 x 105 cm (9* 50 x 35 cm) entitled “Coques et carreaux” (Shells and tiles).
This work can be customized as desired, offering different graphic combinations depending on the positioning of the 9 tiles.
A wonderful evening for the prize-giving ceremony, attended by the winners, artists and collectors.
These 10 works will also be exhibited at the Ceysson Bénetière gallery in Saint Etienne from November 17 to 23, 2021.
